The original Gordie logo from 1956, sometimes referred to as the "Circle Man" logo. Drawn by a friend of Gordie's who was a graphic artist at Knott's Berry Farm, it was replaced by the familiar "shield" logo in 1958. Note that the word "Surfboards" is misspelled (no "A"). When presented with the original art, Gordie noticed the error, but decided to go with it anyway, saying something like "we're surfers, not spellers!" Click on photo for a larger view.
