Bruce Jones
Bruce Jones Surfboards
Bruce Jones has been shaping surfboards since the mid 1960’s, having edged his way into the scene at Hobie. Bruce made his way up the ladder during the heyday of Hobie. Surrounded by shaping heavyweights including Phil Edwards, Dale Velzy, and Terry Martin, Jones wasn’t afraid to ask a lot of questions and gain from their knowledge.
In the late 60’s, Jones started shaping for Vardeman Surfboards and did all the Jackie Baxter models. Other shaping stops included time with Gordie, a short stint with Dick Brewer in Hawaii, and with Ole, before launching the Bruce Jones label in 1973 in Seal Beach. Since then, Bruce has been a hands on surfboard manufacturer shaping all styles of boards including shortboards, longboards, paddleboards, windsurfers, kiteboards and SUP’s. Bruce’s shop is still located in its original location.
